Chad Slieper is a 2002 graduate of the School of Public Policy, and he was part of the first cohort of students to go through the BSPP program when it was created. At Tech, Chad was the Public Policy representative to SGA, was an inaugural member of the Ivan Allen College’s Student Advisory Board, and was also the President of Georgia Tech’s chapter of the pre-law professional organization Phi Alpha Delta.

Through the School of Public Policy’s Philosophy of Science and Technology courses, Chad developed a keen interest in bioethics, medical ethics, and professional ethics more generally. After attending law school at Emory University School of Law, Chad completed a fellowship in clinical ethics at The University of Texas - M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. Upon completion of his fellowship, he joined the clinical ethics faculty at M.D. Anderson, and also served as Chief, ad interim, of Clinical Ethics for a period of time.

Chad returned to Atlanta in 2008 to direct a program in Global Health Law & Policy at Emory University School of Law, and later transitioned into law firm work. Continuing to utilize his expertise in professional ethics that he began developing at Georgia Tech, Chad worked with Greenberg Traurig LLP, where he identified and resolved potential conflicts of interest posed by new business and lateral hires coming into the firm.

Currently, Chad is the Director of the Law, Science, and Technology (LST) Program at Georgia Tech. The program is the Pre-Law program for students at Georgia Tech interested in law school or interested more generally in law. It is also an academic and programming hub for the exploration of issues at the intersection of law, science, and technology.  It offers both a Law, Science, and Technology Minor, and a Pre-Law Certificate for undergraduates.

Chad is a member of the State Bar of Georgia, and is former Secretary and Board Member of the Stonewall Bar Association of Georgia. Chad previously served as the alumni advisor to the Ivan Allen College Student Advisory Board, and he was the recipient of the School of Public Policy’s Outstanding Alumni Award in 2012-13.
