Current Job: Costing and Demand Side Support at Southern Company
Biography:

Ross currently works at Southern Company Services in the Planning and Regulatory Support Organization. As a member of the Costing and Demand Side Support team, he performs energy simulations, conducts economic analyses, and analyzes data to support operating company regulatory filings and informs development of current and new products and services. This role allows him to operate at the intersection of engineering, economics, and policy and work on several high-profile issues including energy efficiency, renewables, system planning, and electrification.

He came to Public Policy from an engineering background and spent his time at Tech pairing that technical knowledge with an understanding of the economic and regulatory drivers of the electricity industry. He did research on renewable energy incentives, consumer behavior, and electricity rate design. Ross's dissertation focused on the implications of distributed solar for utilities and their customers. After graduating from Tech he worked at Demand Side Analytics, an energy consulting firm, doing energy analytics before joining Southern Company.
