| Description: | During history of philosophy, it was a shared opinion that Aristotle was the first who formulated a clear idea of axiomatization of scientific knowledge. While this view has been criticized in recent years, the articleﾒs major goal is to rehabilitate it partly, but from a new point of view. Starting point is a distinction between two quite different interpretations about what ﾓaxiomatizationﾔ really is which has become important since Hilbertﾒs axiomatization of geometry: a ﾓlogical-analyticalﾔ interpretation, and a ﾓmodel-theoreticalﾔ one. Based on this distinction, the paper shows firstly that Aristotle can be seen as the founding father of the ﾓlogical-analyticalﾔ interpretation. Secondly, it is argued that we can find in the pseudo-platonic Epinomis some hints at a model-theoretic interpretation of axiomatics which opens up a new glance at Platoﾒs most famous concept: the ﾓidea of the good.ﾔ |
