Biography:

Shawn Skolky is an attorney at the Washington, D.C. office of Mintz, a full-service, general practice law firm, serving clients of all sizes and at all stages of growth. Shawn’s legal practice is varied, and he practices in both antitrust and consumer product safety practices. Shawn advises on many aspects of antitrust and competition law, including antitrust counseling, Hart-Scott-Rodino (HSR) merger review, and private antitrust litigation, including class actions.  In addition to antitrust litigation, Shawn’s litigation practice also focuses on representation of both plaintiffs and defendants in a wide variety of complex civil litigation matters spanning a number of industries. Shawn’s consumer product safety practice focuses on helping companies seeking representation on product safety reporting obligations, recalls, regulatory compliance, product safety investigations, and enforcement matters involving the Consumer Product Safety Act (CPSA), the Canadian Consumer Product Safety Act (CCPSA), and other federal and state product safety laws.  Shawn has experience in guiding companies through the recall process, and has extensive experience in all types of consumer products, including children’s products, appliances, glassware, recreational vehicles, beds, and more.  Shawn also is involved in the voluntary standard-making process, and works alongside the Consumer Product Safety Commission and various industry groups to ensure relevant and reasonable standards are developed and implemented.

Shawn is a 2012 graduate of Georgia Tech’s School of Public Policy, and 2015 graduate of Emory University School of Law.  While at Georgia Tech, Shawn was active in greek life, and was a member of Georgia Tech’s all-male a cappella group, Sympathetic Vibrations. Shawn loves hearing from Georgia Tech students, particularly those who are seeking advice about going to law school and what the practice of law looks like.
