Stephanie Noble Wilson serves as the highest political appointee to the elected City Auditor for the City of Oakland, where she leads an office dedicated to analyzing the efficiency, effectiveness, and equity of city services.
Prior to her current role, she worked in the City Auditor’s Office in San Jose, contributing to numerous projects evaluating a broad range of municipal services. She also led the citywide Annual City Services Report, a companion to the operating budget, providing data on the cost, quantity, quality, and timeliness of city services, and served as her office’s technical lead, supporting colleagues across projects with advanced methodologies. In 2017, Wilson was recognized by Mayor Sam Liccardo with the Pride of San Jose Award for her work on an interdepartmental team establishing a new Department of Clean Energy.
Wilson earned her B.S. in Public Policy in 2013, graduating with highest honors and receiving the Liam Rattray Award for Outstanding Student in Public Policy. She completed her M.S. in Public Policy in 2014 and published her master’s research in 2016 on the relationship between New York City’s Sustainability Plan (PlaNYC) and public health outcomes in Frontiers in Public Health Services and Systems Research.
