Overview
Dr. Cayla Clinkenbeard is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the School of Public Policy at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Her research investigates how trust shapes the production and circulation of knowledge and develops an account of epistemic responsibility based on discretionary control over information to which audiences are vulnerable. This framework explains why sources that subtly shape what seems plausible are accountable for their epistemic effects and offers a novel approach for distinguishing epistemically healthy communities from unhealthy ones based on their willingness to be accountable and responsive to those who depend on them. She has written about topics like misinformation, echo chambers, and social media amplification practices.
