Overview

Lennart Maschmeyer is an Assistant Professor in Cybersecurity Policy. His research, boradly, examines how technological change shapes security competition among states. Dr. Maschmeyer's primary research topic has been the strategic role and impact of cyber conflict and subversion as low-intensity means of competition among states. Specifically, his research identifies the mechanisms of power involved, their advantages and drawbacks, and their resulting capacity to produce real-world outcomes. His current research expands the focus to the rise of artificial intelligence and the new opportunities and challenges it offers to states in these areas of competition.
