Bijesh is an Applied Economist. His research focuses on the economics, sustainability, climate change, and policy aspects of the agriculture and energy nexus and technological innovation to reduce global greenhouse gas emissions. At Georgia Tech, his research is focused on understanding cost reduction mechanism and economic impact of various sustainable aviation fuel technology pathways in the US. Besides, some of his most recent works are focused on understanding how solar developers and farmers behaviors and federal government policy impact adoption of agrivoltaics technology which collocates solar energy system with agricultural enterprises in the US. He is also interested in developmental and political economics.

Teaching Interests:
Dr. Mishra’s teaching includes policies, economics, technologies, and socioeconomic aspects of energy production and use in the U.S. and globally, with emphasis on sustainability and innovation. His courses are designed to examines the interplay between resource availability, technological limits, and environmental concerns that influence energy production and consumption decisions. By integrating policy analysis with systems thinking, his teaching provides insights on how careful framing and analytical rigor can transform complex energy challenges into actionable solutions. Students will gain practical knowledge, data-driven tools to evaluate the technical, economic, political, and socioeconomic dimensions of energy policy.
Research Interests:
Dr. Mishra’s research focuses on the economics, sustainability, and policy aspects of environment/natural resources/agriculture and energy nexus and technological innovation to reduce global greenhouse gas emissions. Some of his most recent works are related to the adoption and policy aspects of renewable energy technologies, such as sustainable aviation biofuel and agrivoltaics, in the US. He is also interested in developmental and political economics research.
