Georgia Tech’s program in Science, Technology, and Innovation Policy (a joint program of the Enterprise Innovation Institute and the School of Public Policy) brings together academic faculty, researchers, and students with economic development practitioners and state policy-makers to develop and disseminate innovative concepts and tools for Georgia. As part of our commitment to educating the next generation of economic developers, we will offer up to four paid internships in summer 2012 in innovative economic development. These internships involve working on a single, in-depth original economic development research or implementation project. The nature and scope of the project is determined jointly by the student applicant, Enterprise Innovation Institute staff, faculty advisors, and Georgia economic development practitioners. Students are encouraged to draw on their project to complete a professional paper or thesis. The program concludes with students presenting their findings to key economic development and policymakers. The STIP Georgia Innovative Economic Development Internship program was established in 2005. To date, 26 interns have completed the program. The 2012 application process is now open - with a deadline of February 29, 2012. For more information and the full 2012 call for applicants, see: http://stip.gatech.edu/?page_id=15
