Director
Clark R. Bonilla, M.A., (USC, 1993), is the Director of Alumni and Career Services for the School of Public Policy. Mr. Bonilla has more than 10 years of directorial experience in higher education administration. He has planned and administered numerous collegiate workforce development and academic programs. He has served as a collegiate director, project manager, city planner, economic developer, and college instructor.
Mission and Strategy
Mission Statement
The mission of the school’s Career Services is to advance student and alumni career decision-making by raising their awareness of the many career pathways available to them, thereby improving their future career opportunities, advancement and satisfaction.
Strategy
Students require information about the careers appropriate to their academic studies, how to translate their academic skills into marketable job skills, the projected job market for their preferred careers, and how to plan and manage a career for continuous learning and advancement. Therefore, the school’s Career Services are designed to address these needs. This strategy is, thus, driven by labor market knowledge to facilitate decision-making for effective career management.

Objectives and Services
Service Objectives
The school’s Career Services will serve students and alumni by:
- directing them to tools and resources to develop their self-knowledge,
- identifying occupationally critical knowledge, tools, and skills within courses,
- supplying labor market and occupational information,
- training them in long-term career decision-making for effective career management,
- directing them toward occupationally-relevant experiential opportunities,
- identifying job openings in the public, private and nonprofit sectors,
- training them in job search skills and other relevant occupational skills, and
- advising them toward developing a sense of professional identity.
Career Services
The school’s Career Services offers a wide range of free services to students and alumni:
- topical workshops (1-1.5 hours) on career decision-making, academic careers, social media for professional networking, internships, project management, contract development, and consulting.
- career fellowship and grant workshops, such as Presidential Management Fellows,
- individualized career advisement,
- resume and cover letter review,
- job postings on the PPGSA T-Square site and the Policy Innovation group on LinkedIn.com,
- SPP Career Blog, including the latest labor market news, tips on career management, student and alumni achievement profiles, and calendars of campus events,
- annual Public Policy Career Week (workshops, guest speakers, networking with alumni, and more),
- invitations to public, private and nonprofit sector employers to attend internship and job fairs on campus, in conjunction with Georgia Tech’s Career Services, Ivan Allen College, and the School of City and Regional Planning, and
- coordination of alumni-student networking opportunities in collaboration with the Public Policy Graduate Student Association (PPGSA).
Annual Events
The school’s Career Services coordinates annual major career events with the Georgia Tech Career Services Office, such as:
- Fall Career Fair,
- Spring Internship and Co-Op Fair, and
- Spring Liberal Arts Career Week.
In addition to these events, Public Policy students may participate in these events:
- Spring Public Policy Career Week,
- Spring Energy Internship Fair, and
- Spring College of Architecture Career Fair.
Given the number of Public Policy graduate students enrolled in City and Regional Planning courses, the School of Public Policy plans many career events and workshops with the School of City and Regional Planning.
